Privacy Policy

The Gold Window is a research platform for the analytical precious metals and macro investor. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, what we do with it, and the choices you have about your data.

We are a small team and we keep this simple on purpose. Our goal is to provide a useful tool, not to build an advertising profile of you.

What we collect

When you visit thegoldwindow.ai, we collect a small amount of information automatically. This includes the page you requested, the time of your visit, the country your visit originated from (derived from your IP address), and basic browser information sent in the standard request headers. We do not store your full IP address.

If you sign in to use Chart Explorer or subscribe to commentary, we ask for your email address. Entering it creates your session immediately — a random token in a cookie on your browser, and a corresponding row in our database — so you’re never kept waiting on an email that might be delayed. We also send a confirmation link to the address you provide, both to verify you own it and so you can sign in again from another device later. We store your email address for as long as your subscription is active, along with whether you’ve confirmed it and whether you’ve opted into commentary.

As you use the platform, we may record certain interactions: which charts you view, when you click “Read the analyst’s note” to expand a chart description, and similar engagement events. Whether we do, and how, depends on the cookie consent choice described below — if you’ve allowed Analytics, these are logged against a persistent identifier for your browser; if you’ve declined, we still record the event for aggregate understanding, but against a fresh identifier that’s never reused and never linked back to your session or to any other event. If you write to us at hello@thegoldwindow.ai, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this to respond to you and to improve the platform based on your feedback.

What we do not collect

We do not require you to create an account. We do not ask for your name, mailing address, phone number, or financial information. We do not collect or store passwords on your behalf. We do not use third-party analytics platforms that track you across the web (no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no advertising trackers). We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. Some are essential for the platform to function: a session cookie that maintains your signed-in state, and a cookie that records your cookie preferences so we don’t ask you about them on every visit. If you’ve allowed Analytics, we also use a cookie that stores your engagement event identifier, which lets us understand how the platform is being used in aggregate — this one is only set once you opt in, and removed if you decline or withdraw consent.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies from third-party networks, or fingerprinting techniques. The cookie consent interface shown on your first visit lets you choose whether to allow non-essential cookies.

How long we keep data

Sessions expire after ninety days, after which the session record is marked expired in our database. We retain the historical session record for analytical purposes.

Engagement events are retained indefinitely in aggregate. Events logged with your Analytics-consent identifier are not tied to your name or email; events logged after declining Analytics carry no identifier that could ever be linked back to you in the first place. If you would like us to delete the engagement events associated with a specific identifier, you can write to us at hello@thegoldwindow.ai with the identifier (visible in your browser’s developer tools) and we will remove those records.

Email correspondence sent to hello@thegoldwindow.ai is retained for as long as is useful to the platform’s improvement, typically two years.

Your choices

You can clear our cookies from your browser at any time, which will end your session and remove your engagement identifier. You can refuse non-essential cookies through the cookie consent interface or in your browser’s settings. You can write to us at hello@thegoldwindow.ai to ask what data we have associated with your session, and to request deletion.

If you are a resident of the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, additional rights may apply to you under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These include the right to access, correct, and delete personal information we may hold about you, and the right to know whether we sell your information (we do not). Children

The Gold Window is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect information from children under thirteen. If you believe we have collected information from a child under thirteen, please write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be noted on the welcome page for at least thirty days following the change.
